Cross Bun Can Be Enjoyed Anytime Although Mostly Made During Easter.

  5 STEP INSTRUCTIONS - Quick and easy to make!


   Dough Ingredient

   1 cup warm coconut milk          1 tsp yeast                 2 1/2 cups wheat flour

   1/2 cup vegan butter                1/3 cup cane sugar      1/4 tsp salt  

   1 cup raisins                             2 tsp vanilla              2 tsp cinnamon


  Dough Preparation

   Preheat oven to 350°F and set aside oiled baking sheet.

  •  Set aside yeast and add flour and other ingredients to a mixing bowl.

  •  Add yeast to coconut milk. Stir and leave for two minutes to rise.

  •  Pour yeast with flour and other ingredients and knead into a dough.

  •  Cover with parchment paper and let rise in warm area for 2 1/2 hours.

  •  Divide dough into twelve portions and knead each into a smooth bun.

  •  Make a ”T” or a cross indentation on each bun.

  •  Place each bun on oiled baking sheet and let rest for 15 minutes.


  Bake Cross Buns

  •  Bake buns for 40 minutes in preheat 350°F oven until golden.

  •  On removal from oven, base each bun with soy buttermilk and let cool.

  •  Prepare icing while bun is baking.

   Icing Ingredients & Preparation

   1 cup confectioners’ sugar       2 tbsp vegan vegetable butter     Pinch of salt 

   1/2 tsp lemon juice                1/2 tsp lemon zest                       1 tsp vanilla

  • Mix ingredients with a small whisk for 3 minutes to a smooth consistency.


   Garnish Cross Buns

  • Fill each cross indentation on each bun with icing.

  • Garnish with raspberries for extra flavor and aesthetic appeal and enjoy

  You should have 1 dozen cross buns.
