🥖Everyone seems fascinated with my bread recipes this holiday season. Try my Artistic Chestnut Bread so you don’t miss out and can fill your bread fetish and elevate your holiday table.


🥖Feel free to substitute dairy and regular products for organic, vegan products used in this and my other recipes in Volume V and message me on the outcome.


🥖Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year since it awakens childhood memories of joyous Guyanese Christmases with family and friends. Parents prepped meats and cakes weeks in advance to establish lip smacking flavor profiles that remain indelible in my mind even today. And I see our home, and six-year-old me sneaking out of bed on Christams eve to inspect the Christmas tree and pry presents while my parents slept.

Artistic Chestnut Bread

Ingredients                                                        

1/2 cup butter, 1 1/2 tsp yeast, 1/4 cup melted Crisco      1 tsp sugar, 2 cups roasted and diced chestnuts 

1/2 tsp salt, 1 cup warm coconut milk

4 cups organic wheat flour                                       

Mixing bowl, board, 2 Oiled, 8-inch and baking sheet needed.

 

Mix Dough 

✔️  Mix yeast, sugar and salt in warm water and leave to rise for 5 minutes.

✔️  Sift flour in mixing bowl.

✔️  Add butter, Crisco, diced chestnuts and milk then add yeast mixture.

✔️  Combine ingredients well with a spatula.

✔️  Knead with clean hands (it’s fun!) for 5 minutes into a fluffy dough.

✔️ Leave to rise in a warm area for 3 hours.

✔️  Divide dough into 2 equal portions.

✔️  Knead each portion into 6x8 shapes and place in, oiled baking pans.

✔️  Leave to rise for 15 minutes.

 

Bake Bread 

✔️ Heat oven to 350° F and bake bread for 50 minutes or until golden.

✔️ Remove bread from oven and cool for 15 minutes before enjoying.

Makes 2 loaves Enjoy with mushroom butter!

 

Mushroom Butter

Blend 1/2 cup oil, 1 cup roasted mushrooms,1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp minced garlic, 1/4 tsp diced jalapeno,

1 tsp soy sauce. Shape into desired size. Keep frozen until needed.
